Paul Jeakins is the Commissioner and CEO with the BC Oil and Gas Commission. In October of 2016 he was reappointed to a second five year term as Commissioner, CEO and Vice Chair of the Commission Board. His original term began in 2011 and in these roles, Paul is the strategic and operational leader of the Commission. Prior to becoming Commissioner, he had responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Regulatory Affairs and Stewardship and Manager of Audits.
A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Paul graduated from the University of Alberta in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and holds a Master of Science Degree from Royal Roads University. Prior to joining the Commission in 2006, Paul was a professional forester and partner in a resource consulting firm.
Paul brings 30 years of expertise to the role in organizational leadership, regulatory and strategic planning, decision making and financial management. He is Chair of the Western Regulators' Forum Executive Board and a Board member of the Petroleum Technology Alliance of Canada (PTAC).
Based out of Victoria, Paul divides his work time between the Commission’s offices located around the province as well as regularly presenting to local and international audiences on the topics of regulating shale gas and LNG.
