Information is available regarding the Oil and Gas Commission’s provincial responsibility to consult with First Nations on proposed oil and gas activities in their traditional territories. The Commission strives to foster mutually beneficial working relationships with First Nations communities.
The Commission works closely with First Nations to establish negotiated Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding as living documents, recognizing that these are the foundations for long, collaborative working relationships. These established formal consultation processes provide for First Nations’ participation in the consultation process and ensures applications are dealt with as effectively and efficiently as possible.
